I Swear (DVD)

I Swear tells the inspiring and emotionally honest story of John Davidson, a Tourette Syndrome activist whose life challenged widespread misunderstanding about the condition. Set in 1980s Britain, this moving drama follows John from his diagnosis at fourteen through his troubled teenage years and into early adulthood.

As John searches for connection, independence, and a place in the world, he faces ignorance and judgment while refusing to let other people’s assumptions define him. The film balances difficult moments with humor, warmth, and a deeply human sense of resilience, offering an intimate portrait of someone determined to live on his own terms.

Robert Aramayo leads the cast in a compelling performance as John, supported by Peter Mullan, Maxine Peake, Sanjeev Kohli, and Shirley Henderson. A thoughtful choice for viewers interested in British drama, true-life stories, disability representation, and character-driven cinema.
