Country music with its eyes on the horizon. Points West: New Horizons in Country Music brings together 14 tracks from a lineup that stretches from Heather Myles and Gary Stewart to Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Buddy Miller. Honky-tonk heart, western swing flavor, and a touch of rockabilly give this Various Artists compilation plenty to explore beyond the usual country sampler.
Put it on for a trip through different voices and moods: Heather Myles opens with “Rum & Rodeo,” Joe Ely rolls through “Row Of Dominoes,” and Buddy Miller closes out the set with “Feels Like I'm Fallin' In Love.” A rewarding pick for collectors exploring the country sounds gathered on Hightone Records.
