Rec

One emergency call. A sealed apartment building. A camera that keeps rolling. [REC] turns a routine night with a television news crew into a claustrophobic fight for survival. Directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, this Spanish found-footage horror film is the original that inspired Quarantine.

TV reporter Ángela, played by Manuela Velasco, and her cameraman are following the night shift at a local fire station when an emergency call takes them to an apartment building. Screams from an elderly woman's unit draw the crew inside, but what begins as an ordinary rescue quickly becomes something far more terrifying. When authorities seal off the building, the reporters, firefighters, and residents are trapped with a deadly threat and no clear way out.

Told through the news crew's camera, [REC] trades the safety of a distant viewpoint for frantic, close-quarters terror. Confined hallways, escalating panic, and the uncertainty of what lies beyond the frame make it a compelling addition to a found-footage or international horror collection.
