I was disappointed that the video was not in English. When I reviewed the synopsis and detail, it did not provide any information as to what languages are available to view the movie. The picture quality is flawless as well as the sound 🔊.
This one has all of Shaw's great artists...
There must be two movies named Shaolin Temple from 1976 because I received the dvd box that matches the description listed here, but got a movie about a prince whose family was killed by a traitorous general. The prince was poisoned by daggers and had to find a magical elixir kept in the Shaolin Temple in order to survive and get revenge. The prince doesn’t know Kung Fu throughout this whole movie! Two sisters that do know Kung Fu protect him from the pursuing traitor general. One sister has to pass 7 levels of Shaolin tests in order to obtain the elixir, and save the prince(which she does). Pretty low budget and lousy fight scenes except when the sister was passing through the 7 levels. If you want the Shaw Bro’s movie I suggest trying to order it under its alternate title- Death Chambers
It’s worth keeping. Just not the movie with Fu Sheng and the others from the Shaw Brothers nor is a Shaw Brothers movie. Its a DVD-R. Don’t buy this movie if you’re looking for the one from the Shaw Brothers. Also the mainland China movie with Jet Li is even better.
I ended up watching this film twice in a row because of how slick some of the fight scenes were. Massive group combat and brilliant choreography. There's only a little wonky cinematography towards the end, but it doesn't detract from the film. A must watch for fans of Chinese action cinema.
