Collector note: The existing release notes identify this W7 version as featuring a mix of “Into The Mystic” with Van Morrison’s tambourine audible. That mix identification comes from the listing; it has not been checked against playback of this individual record.

Yes, this is considered a true first US pressing.
Collectors recognize the Warner Bros.-Seven Arts "W7" green label variant as the earliest and most desirable issue of Moondance. Warner Bros. transitioned its branding to the standard "WB" shield logo right around the album's release on February 28, 1970. As a result, only the very first run of records left the pressing plant featuring the legacy W7 logo.
Matrix & Mix Verification
  • The Matrix Number: Your listed matrix code (39621 WS1835 A RE1-1C) definitively aligns with the earliest mastering runs.
  • The Tambourine Mix: The RE1 matrix notation combined with the -1C trailing code means side one contains Van Morrison's preferred, original mix of "Into The Mystic". In this specific mix, his tambourine track is clearly audible.
Due to a clerical error during subsequent manufacturing runs (starting at -1D cuts and onward), the tambourine track was accidentally deleted from the master. Consequently, the vast majority of standard retail pressings from the 1970s onward lack this distinct audio detail.
