Eating Raoul (1982) is a cult classic black comedy directed by and starring Paul Bartel, alongside Mary Woronov and Robert Beltran. The film satirizes the sexual revolution and consumer culture of the early 1980s through the story of Paul and Mary Bland, a prudish married couple who, in their quest to open a restaurant, resort to luring and killing swingers for their money. Their scheme becomes more complicated with the involvement of Raoul, a locksmith who discovers their secret and proposes a partnership, leading to unexpected twists.
Critically, Eating Raoul has been praised for its deadpan humor and satirical edge. Roger Ebert noted its unique blend of the bizarre and the banal, though he felt it didn't fully capitalize on its outrageous premise. The film holds an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics highlighting its pitch-black humor and anarchic vigor
