A Gold Shipment is being delivered by cart to a province in need of assistance. However, the Gold is targeted to be stolen by a gang of Bandits. Kung Fu battles ensue on the way to the destination as the 3 factions attempt to deliver the Gold Shipment, ending with the climatic battle with the Bandits' leader and the Government Agent.

I love this movie. I had this in a vhs format, so I had to get the DVD. You can set it to speak the English language or you can set it as Cantonese and have English subtitles. These are some of my favorite martial art actors, very powerful and strong.

I enjoy this movie it brings back going to the movies in Philly.Now i do a question about my other movie The 5Deadly Venoms i sent it back only for another One because that 1 played in Chinese and i sent it thinking i would receive it speaking English

This is the other Shaw Bros movie I remember well from my childhood (the other being FIVE DEADLY VENOMS), and it's one of only three that has all the original cast members from that film. In other words, an essential Venoms.A gold shipment worth millions is due to set out for a famine area as government relief, but cash that tall always attracts trouble. The government contracts the Hu Wei Security Bureau to escort the shipment, and they send the mysterious sheriff Hai Tao to help. Rounding out our group of heroes are the Batman-&-Robin-esque team of Long Axe and Short Axe, and a pair that makes this film something special for Venoms fans: The actor whose absence keeps all but three from being "full" Venoms films is Wei Pak, and he stars in this film as pompous, arrogant, yet ultimately heroic swordsman Li Qing Ming. He's a sterotypical "wandering swordsman in white" with a difference - a swordswoman fiancee who does her best to keep him from being honorable but stupid.Our heroes are up against the baddest bunch of gangstas there is - the Qi Sha, who are introduced in the opening credits sequence: Golden Arm, Silver Spear, Iron Robe and Copper Head. And about a zillion followers.The movie itself is a bit of a mess. There's a sloppiness to it, as though production had been very rushed and for most scenes they used the first take that came out halfway decent. Don't be alarmed - it only shows in the first few fights. The sloppiness is confined to the production: The script is TIGHT. Also, by some miracle, the sloppier parts come early on, and the movie tightens up right along with the rising action. Each fight is literally better than the last, and I don't think more than five minutes go by without an action sequence. The humor works well - generally, Hong Kong comedy is something I ENDURE, but I enjoyed the highly-functioning yet ragingly alcoholic hero Hai Tao, played by Kwok Choi. When we finally meet the "mysterious" sheriff, he appears to be a simple drunk, then he seems completely unreliable, maybe even psycho (he throws a colleague into a HOT OVEN). But there's a method to his madness, and when he finally faces off against the too-cool Golden Arm, you realize you were anticipating the HELL out the fight. It's just that the blistering pace gave you no time to think about anything. This is a movie you strap yourself into. Probably wear a helmet. Scripted by the relaible Ni Kuang, there's a nice wuxia-type twist at the end, and it has one of the All-Time Great Final Lines of Dialogue.I say this a lot when discussing Venoms flicks, but...when Chiang Sheng and Lu Feng go at it, it always feels like a legit fight to the death (see FLAG OF IRON and MASKED AVENGERS). I always found that interesting, as Kwok Choi and Lu Feng were the two alleged to have on-set issues with each other. Whatever the reason it happens, the fight between Short Axe and Silver Spear is a thing of beauty.Tokyo Shock does this the way it should be done, but I wish Linn Haynes were still around to have given us the commentary track this deserves.Groovy weaponry, bizarre fighting styles, freaky costumes (is that...David Bowie? Oh, wait... it's the Silver Spear), clever twists, a breakneck pace, the funniest poisoning I've ever seen, a seriously funky soundtrack, and a Bad Guy who turns out to be not such a bad guy make TKWTGA...a blacklight poster come to life? An ur-superhero movie? Cirque du Slay? I DON'T EVEN KNOW! but I love it. And you probably will too.

I like pretty much all Venom movies. But this one is one of my favorites. It is your usual Venom fare. Some of them good and some bad (unlike Invincible Shaolin where they are all good guys). The bad guys all die and only some good guys live (don't want to give away who and how many). In my opinion, this may be Kuo Chui's (Lizard from the Venom movie) best movie.Basic story, the government (or rich people - can't truly figure it out) are sending gold to an area of China in desperate need of help. They are concerned about the gold being stolen by a gang of thieves led by Golden Arm. Besides getting help from some local top notch fighters, the government is sending one of their top agents to help. The agent, though excellent, has one fault, he tends to be drunk (though don't expect the fights to appear drunken like with Jackie Chan in Drunken Master).As for DVD quality. It was excellent (I have the one with Golden Arm and girl on cover). On a blu-ray player, it upsized well and used the entire screen (black bars on top and bottom but full width) and it looked great.If you like any Venom movie, you will like this one. If you dislike the Venoms, then stay away, it is more of the same.

Honor,It would be an honor. You do not find this word in today's video games. However in the "old school " martial arts movies you hear this word repeated over and over. The Kid With The Golden Arm is no different. That's why I give it 5 stars. Single parent fathers / mothers who can't watch their children all of the time. Do not leave your children in front of today's video games unattended.They have all the blood, violence, and corruption of our society today, but no honor. The "old school" martial arts movies usuallyhave the classic good guy/bad guy format. Good luck finding that in a video game today. The "honor" in the TKWTGA shows up in who hechooses not to kill at the end it the movie. The "honor" in other old school martial arts movies shows up in discipline, training, and you reap what you sow format. This honor and discipline can also be found in the pages of the Bible. In Genesis 14:14 (318 trained servants) , David and his MIGHTYMEN 1 CHRON.12, The tribe of Benjamin who can throw with the right or left hand found throughoutthe Bibles O.T.. This old school martial arts format gave this young man a place to go, kept me out of trouble, no drugs and no alcohol and just a mother at home. The LORD and honor is unbeatable.

Awesome movie if you like this genre. This was my favorite growing up and I was glad to finally get a copy. It gives you the option of hearing it in English or in Chinese with English subtitles. I love the cheese factor of the English version where the words don't match the mouth movements.

THIS WAS A GREAT PURCHASE. VIDEO QUALITY AND AUDIO WAS FANTASTIC AND OBCOURSE THE VENOMS NEVER DISAPPOINT. I WAS A LITTLE CONFUSED BECAUSE I DIDNT THINK IT WAS DUBBED IN ENGLISH AFTER I ORDERED IT SO I ORDERED THE WORLDWIDE VERSION BUT WHEN I PUT THE MOVIE IN I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WITH AN ENGLISH DUB. GREAT MOVIE

THE KID WITH THE GOLDEN ARMS WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY TOP TEN MOVIES EVEN 2-DAY. THE DVD IS GREAT!!!!! MENG LO HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE VENOM!!! SO TO SEE HIS SKILLS ENHANCED IN THIS MOVIE FOR ALL THESE YEARS, I JUST HAD TO BUY FOR MY COLLECTION. IF YOU HAVE LOVE FOR THE VENOMS, GET YOURS NOW!!!

I have seen dozens of Martial Arts flicks and this is solid enough to be with the best. As expected the storyline is fair at best and there is not much dramatics and dialouge but this is great as it resolves the movie to be nothing but action. It doesn't seem too long and the weapon battles are very well played. I don't recommend the english dub as it sounds stupid, but the translated subtitles feel much more coherent and work very well with the scenes. I would recommend this if you liked The Drunken Master or Magnificent Butcher, or if you have good taste.

Don't know why it took so long but it has finally arrived. Classic Shaw Brothers/Venoms from start to finish. In 1978, Chang Cheh did this after "Invincible Shaolin" was complete. It was also the last film Wei Pai did with Chang before leaving for Golden Harvest. Everybody is present including Lo Mang as the "Golden Arm Kid", Lu Feng as Silver Spear, Johnny Wang as Iron Armor & Robert Yang as Copper Head. The story about Hu Wei Security transporting 20,000 taels of gold to a famine area & being intersected by the Deadly Valley (Chi Hsia) borrows a little from the 1969 Shaw film "Have Sword Will Travel" (both movies are directed & co-written by Chang though so it's OK.) Instead of David Chiang we have Kuo Chui doing an amazing job as the "Sheriff of a Thousand Faces" Hai Tao. Awesome characters, great performances, esoteric costumes/weapons & tremendous fu from Robert Tai, Lu Feng & Chiang Sheng. Highlights include, literally, the final half-hour, as well as a great fight between Kuo Chui & Johnny Wang. Tokyo Shock got it right - excellent transfer from the remastered Celestial version, this personal favorite of mine (along with "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin") never looked or sounded better. Uncut, widescreen, in Mandarin with remastered subtitles or a decent English dub & a good photo/still gallery. This is the definitive version of this Chang Cheh classic.

This a classic. The video is better than the version I saw on TV many years ago. Much cleaner video but had some dubbing issues. I enjoyed the story and the action. I will not repeat the story here.If you are a fan of kung-fu films and you must see this one. Action, deception, intrigue and kung-fu. As far as plot etc goes its pretty good for this genre. Most of the actors are veterans of other kung-fu films.

If you're a fan of old-school kung-fu films like "Five Deadly Venoms" and "Fists of the White Lotus," then you will enjoy this kung fu flick from the Shaw Brothers collection, and starring the very same ensemble of Asian actors who portrayed the Five Venoms. This flick has it all: deadly kung-fu techniques, secret kung-fu clans, exciting kung-fu missions, and lavish and flamboyant costumes. The fighters are incredibly talented and athletic, contributing to some slick, lively, and fast-paced fighting. If you are a fan of kung-fu cinema and you have developed an acquired taste for English dubbing, this one's a sure winner. Highly recommended.

This release of "The Kid" has got to be better than anything that ground zero has ever released! Why do you guys buy from that company? Anyway, this has great picture quality with pretty good sound. If you love the venom's ( one of the few that features all six)then this is a must. It's everything you expect from a Chang Cheh movie. Great action, crazy weapons, crazy styles and lots of blood! Buy this version instead!
